TOC: Wolfpack Targets Invade The Triangle

The annual Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions begins tonight and several potential NC State prospects will be in attendance, including 2012 verbal commitment Tyler Lewis.

Pack Pride will have extensive coverage of the tournament with writers at each venue, so stay tuned for game coverage, player updates, scouting reports, and much more!

Next week we will publish interviews from the Wolfpack prospects in attendance to find out about future visits, how they played, current lists, and any other information that we can release. Also we'll be running photo galleries and video clips from the three-day event.

The following Wolfpack prospects are expected to be traveling with their AAU teams to the 2011 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. Games listed are from pool play; playoffs begin Saturday night and potential pool matchups are listed at the bottom of the SCHEDULE. After pool play and Saturday's playoff games are completed, we'll have a listing of Sunday's matchups posted on our premium basketball forum.

North Raleigh Christian School: Main Gym -- Friday 7:00 P.M.

Ravenscroft High: Main Gym -- Saturday 2:30 P.M.

Pack Pride Extra: Lewis has a chance to impress observers and scouts this weekend with his play. He has led Team Loaded to a 14-2 record, and the squad is coming off a tournament win against East Coast Fusion two weeks ago. Team Loaded has to be one of the favorites to win the event.

Best Pool Matchup: Garner Road - Garner Road has solid mid-major guards but feature Top 50 wing T.J. Warren. Warren is a major target for the Wolfpack. Another prospect to watch is shooting guard Terry Henderson.

Pack Pride Extra: Looking to add even more offers, White needs to have a huge weekend as he is returning from an injured that has forced him to miss several tournaments. NC State is one of the many programs looking to see how the talented wing performs this weekend.

Best Pool Matchup: Garner Road - Garner Road has solid mid-major guards but feature Top 50 wing T.J. Warren. Warren is a major target for the Wolfpack and should be a vey good matchup for White. Another prospect to watch is shooting guard Terry Henderson.

Word of God Christian Academy -- Saturday 10:30 A.M.

Pack Pride Extra: Warren is a skilled wing with very good size for the position. A prolific scorer, he can light up the scoreboard in a variety of ways. He currently holds offers several offers, including one from NC State.

He is the son of former NC State hoopster Tony Warren.

Best Pool Matchup: Team Loaded - Big-time matchup for Warren and Garner Road as Team Loaded features two Top 100 national prospects in Tyler Lewis and Andrew White.

Pack Pride Extra: Gill is one of the state's top prospects, regardless of class, and already claims an offer from NC State. He has been sidelined with an ankle injury but is expected to return to action this weekend.

Best Pool Matchup: Westchester Hawks - The NYC program normally has a group of tough, scrappy players that compete on both ends.

(Pool C) Garner Road (16s): C Isaiah Hicks

Pack Pride Extra: Hicks is tracking as a top 25 prospect, and he is loaded with potential. A terrific run-jump athlete, Hicks can be effective as a shotblocker and rebounder but is also working on a perimeter jumper.

He already claims an offer from NC State.

Best Pool Matchup: Westchester Hawks - The NYC program normally has a group of tough, scrappy players that compete on both ends.

Ravenscroft: Auxiliary Gym -- Saturday 1:00 P.M.

Pack Pride Extra: Newkirk, who played with NC Express in the Hoop Jam Fest, told Pack Pride this week that he will be suiting up with Team United's 16-under squad, and that is a major addition for United.

Expect Newkirk to be one of the top point guards in the 2013 class, and he already holds offers from Indiana and Arizona with interest from programs such as North Carolina, Wake Forest, Kentucky, and NC State.

Best Pool Matchup: SC Raptors - A strong team that has won a big tournament already this season, Clemson commitment Patrick Rooks can light up the scoreboard for the Raptors.

Pack Pride Extra: Meeks is one of the top big men in the state, and he will have help this weekend from Newkirk as Team United should certainly contend for the 16-under title.

NC State is one of several programs under consideration by Meeks, who has previously named Georgetown his leader.

Best Pool Matchup: SC Raptors - A strong team that has won a big tournament already this season, Clemson commitment Patrick Rooks can light up the scoreboard for the Raptors.
