Pack Hoping for Visit From Jones

NC State is hoping to get Ninety Six (SC) standout Oliver Jones on campus over the summer. The Pack is one of roughly a half dozen schools hoping to land the talented offensive tackle.

NC State offered South Carolina offensive lineman Oliver Jones much earlier in the year and now the Palmetto prospect wants to visit Raleigh.

The only question is whether Jones, a 6-6, 284-pound tackle, will be able to fit a trip to NC State into his busy summer schedule. It's not that Jones is booked with trips to colleges all over the country. While he does plan on going to Clemson, Georgia and North Carolina at some point over the next couple of months, he also has a lot of non-football related commitments that will make it hard to fit in trips that he hasn't already planned.

That said, a trip to NC State is definitely something he wants to do. Much of that is because of his relationship with assistant coach Jim Bridge.

"NC State offered me two and a half or three months ago and since then I've probably talked to Coach Bridge six or seven times," Jones told Pack Pride this week.
"I really like him a lot. Hopefully I'll be able to go up there sometime this summer. It's just looking like I'm going to be pretty busy."

What has Bridge's main selling point been so far?

"As far as offensive linemen go, they really produce guys," Jones said of NC State. "In that respect they're kind of like Boston College in the ACC. That's definitely a plus and something I'm looking at. I want to get there and see what they're all about."

Jones was scheduled to visit Clemson last week. While he doesn't have his trip to North Carolina planned yet he said that when he's in Chapel Hill he will probably swing over to NC State.

Clemson, East Carolina, North Carolina, NC State and South Carolina are the schools that have offered the Ninety Six, SC prospect.

He said he doesn't have any favorites at the present time.
