Raleigh (NC) Ravenscroft shooting guard Anton Gill was one of the top 2013 performers at the NBPA Top 100 Camp. The four-star prospect spoke with Pack Pride about his game and recruitment following the camp.
There are just a few 2013 prospects who were invited to this camp. What does that mean to you?
I think it's a honor. A lot of the people think highly of me and the way I play, but at at the same time I have to bring my game and show that I belonged here.
You seem to be in better shape than you were at the Tournament of Champions, which was your first event back from the foot injury.
Right after the Gibbons I went to Wake's elite camp and didn't play too well. When I went home I got in the gym with my dad and worked hard... ran sprints, did drills, tried to get my rhythm back. I shed around four pounds i tow days, and I think I'm getting back to my playing weight. I'm almost back to where I used to be.
The few pounds I lost was unnecessary weight, it's something I don't need when I have to explode for a jumper or finish at the rim . That's where losing the weight has helped me.
You were fairly consistent with your scoring at this camp.
I tried to play hard. I want to prove to these guys that I belong here. One thing I've tried to do is put a full game together. I might start out hot and fade or start slow and get hot in the fourth quarter. My goal is to put together complete games.
Do you have any camps coming up?
I'm supposed to go camp at NC State, and I know Thursday we're going to ECU for team camp. My team is at NC State for their camp, which I'm missing. I know I'll be going to Virginia Tech's elite camp too.
What do you want to get from NC State's camp?
I want to spend some times with the commitments, Tyler Lewis and Torian Graham. I also will get to talk with Coach Early and Coach Gottfried. I want to see what kind of system they run and how I fit in there.
What stands out to you about NC State?
I really like Coach Gottfried. He's straight up. He tells you what he wants. It's good when a coach is honest with you. They came and said they think I can help them win a national championship. I know what he wants from me, and I know what he would demand from me. That's what I like about him.
Where do you stand with offers?
I told you last time about Louisville. Since then I've picked up two new ones in Oklahoma State and Miami.
Do you have a top five right now?
Do you have a favorite?
Not really because I haven't had a chance to talk to them that much except for maybe the phone calls. I think I'll have a better list of schools once I get to visit and things like that.
Do you have a set timetable for making a decision?
I just want to keep playing and keep working hard. I want to see how many of these (offers) I can get. Then I'll lay them all out and see which is the best fit for me.
