Hyattsville (MD) DeMatha Catholic standout point guard James Robinson is a major reason why DeMatha and his AAU team, Team Takeover, have been so successful.

What are your thoughts on playing in the NBPA Top 100 Camp?
It's a great experience, being around the top 100 players in the country. Obviously some of the top NBA players are here too so that's great. I'm learning everything I can and applying it to my game.

Team Takeover is undefeated. You've had a great deal of success at DeMatha. Scouts label you a winner. What does that mean to you?
It's definitely a difficult task. Every time you step on the court other players will bring their 'A' game, and you have to match their intensity. You know you have a target on your back. You have to step up to the challenge each and every night.

That's one thing coach Jones and coach Stevens have prepared me to do.

What are your strengths as a basketball player?
Making the best available basketball play. That's what all my coaches tell me to do. If my teammates are open, make sure I get them the ball, and if I can score I need to do that.

Just being a smart basketball player on both ends of the court.

What do you need to improve on?
Everything. You can never stop improving. Shooting, ballhandling, athleticism, strength and conditioning... everything.

Where do you stand with recruiting?
I'm open. I'm undecided. I'm looking at Virginia, Miami, Notre Dame, UCLA, Georgetown, West Virginia, NC State, a bunch of schools. I'm looking at a pretty good list of schools, but right now I'm undecided.

Have all of those offered?

NC State is a school that is on your list. What are your thoughts on them?
The new coaching staff at NC State, I've had a chance to talk to them a couple of times. It seems like they have the program headed in the right direction. Tyler Lewis is going there, and they have a couple of other real good players there already. They are going to be a strong program.

If that's the decision I make I think we can do some great things there.

Is that a school you are looking to visit?
Definitely. I know Jerami Grant has visited there unofficially so I think that would be a pretty strong recruiting class with Tyler, myself, and Jerami. We'll see what happens.

What did Jerami say to you about his visit?
He said he really liked it. The coaching staff is really cool, and it was a great experience. They have a great campus. We'll see what happens.

Do you have a timeframe for when you want to narrow down your list and make a decision?
I don't really a timeframe to narrow it down. I think I'm going to make it shortly before high school starts, but definitely before my senior season begins.

So you're looking to sign in the fall?
Yes, probably.
