Doyle Lands Offer, Commits

West Roxbury (MA) Catholic Memorial standout A.J. Doyle is the latest to commit to NC State and becomes the Pack's fifth commitment in the last three days.

After three trips to NC State over the last several months, it only took West Roxbury (MA) Catholic Memorial standout A.J. Doyle a couple of hours to commit to the Pack after receiving a scholarship offer.

The Wolfpack offered Doyle earlier today and the rising senior wasted no time in selecting his college home.

"Yes, I've committed to NC State," Doyle told Pack Pride Wednesday afternoon.

So why NC State?

"Basically, it was the coaching staff," said Doyle. "I had been there three times and it just really felt like home. They offered today and me and my family decided that State's going to be a place, not only where I can get a great education, but I'm going to be playing for some great people."

At an impressive 6-3, 225 pounds, Doyle stars at quarterback for Catholic Memorial although he'll actually begin his career on defense when he arrives in Raleigh next summer.

"I believe I'm going to start at linebacker but I think they'll give me a shot to play quarterback. But whatever they want me to do and whatever's best for the team and to win some games, that's the position I'll play for them."

In addition to NC State, Doyle had also received offers from Massachusetts and Western Michigan to go along with interest from Maryland, Boston College, Penn State, Syracuse and Connecticut.

Pack Pride will have much more on NC State's fifth commitment in three days so stay tuned.
