Miles Has Offers

Tampa (FL) Berkeley Prep standout linebacker Schyler Miles is back at home after taking a few unofficial visits this summer. Miles, who holds an offer from NC State, was in Raleigh a couple of weeks ago checking out the Wolfpack.

Schyler Miles, who holds offers from NC State, West Virginia, Ball State, Iowa State, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, and Ohio, is being recruited to play middle linebacker. The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder totaled 115 tackles and three sacks last season while adding eight touchdowns from the fullback position.

He was a major reason why Tampa (FL) Berkeley Prep finished 8-2 and advanced to the second round of the state playoffs.

"We had a great year," said Miles. "It was one of the most successful seasons we've ever had. We had a lot of seniors, but we have great skill players coming back and a good quarterback. I think we should do really good again, maybe even better than last year."

He is back at home after taking a few unofficial visits this summer. Miles, who holds an offer from NC State, was in Raleigh a couple of weeks ago checking out the Wolfpack.

"Actually, I loved it at NC State," said Miles. "I was very surprised by their facilities. The coaches are great as well. They have a lot to offer. I love coach O'Brien... he's a good guy. He is a winner, that's what I like about him."

Prior to his NC State visit he toured West Virginia and Cincinnati, and he came away particularly impressed with the Mountaineers.

"I love West Virginia," he said. "It's a beautiful place to be. I had a chance to talk with the defensive coordinator for a couple of hours and he explained the 3-3-5 stack defense they run. We talked about where I would fit in if I went there.

"I also talked to the new head coach, and he's a great guy. I like him a lot. Overall, I felt real comfortable there."

Miles plans on taking all five official visits in the fall, and he is in no hurry to make a decision. However, one program currently sticks out.

"My leader is West Virginia right now," he stated. "The coaches are different from others, and I love that defense... the 3-3-5. I feel like I fit in there.

"I'm going to wait it out though and take my time. I'll make a decision later in the year, after I take my official visits starting in September."
