NC State's ACC Honor Roll honorees included student-athletes from all sports. Among those honored were:
Brittany Tinsley, track and field
Tinsley is the only six-time 2011 ACC Honor Roll selection in the entire conference. She is a former All-ACC performer in both cross country and track and field, and was an All-NCAA Regional performer in cross country.
Audie Cole, football
A two-year starter at linebacker for the Wolfpack, Cole led or tied for the team lead in tackles each of the last two seasons. Cole is on the watch lists for the 2011 Butkus Award and the 2011 Lombardi Award.
Jess Panza, gymnastics
Panza won the H.C. Kennett Award as NC State's top female student-athlete for the 2010-11 school year. She was a 2011 All-EAGL performer on floor, bars and beam, and earned first-team all-tournament honors for vault, bars, floor, beam and all-around at the 2011 EAGL Championships. She won the EAGL Academic Award for excellence in the classroom.
Laura Hoer, cross country
Hoer won four of the six races she entered as a freshman. By year's end she was ACC champion and Freshman of the Year, NCAA regional champion, and All-American. She earned Academic All-America honors from the USTFCCCA.
David Akinniyi, football
Akinniyi transferred to NC State from Northeastern as a graduate student in January 2010 and made an immediate impact on the defensive line for the Pack, racking up 20 tackles, including 4.5 TFLs and 3.0 sacks, recovered two fumbles and forced one. Akinniyi recently signed a free-agent contract with the NFL's Minnesota Vikings.
Sarah Merritt, swimming and diving
Merrit is one of 23 five-time 2011 ACC Honor Roll members. She at one time owned several all-time top 10 fastest times in the NC State record book.
