NC State's only points in the first half came from the foot of freshman placekicker Niklas Sade, who booted a 45-yarder and a 37-yarder. He finished the day with nine total points, and leads the team with 16 for the season.
Baumann Pins Em Deep
In just his second collegiate game, freshman punter Wil Baumann was one of the bright spots of the day for the Wolfpack. Baumann had 4 punts for 167 yards, but pinned Wake inside its own 10-yard line twice, once at the two.
Smith Plays Both Ways
Redshirt sophomore Rashard Smith saw action on both sides of the football this afternoon, playing at wide receiver and in the defensive secondary. Smith started three games at cornerback as a freshman in 2009 and then sat out last season with a knee injury. He started preseason camp at corner, but started working with the wideouts a couple of weeks before the opener.
The last time a Wolfpack player saw action on both sides of the football was in 2005, when defensive tackle DeMario Pressley got some snaps at fullback.
Two Players Make First Career Starts
Wide receiver Tobais Palmer, a redshirt junior, and redshirt freshman defensive end Art Norman each made their first career starts tonight in just their second game with the Pack.
Palmer scored his first career touchdown in the third quarter - a 65-yarder.
State Continues Struggles St Wake Forest
NC State lost its fifth consecutive game in Groves Stadium today and hasn't won a game at Wake since 2001.
Bryan Moves Up Charts
With his touchdown catch in the third quarter, senior tight end George Bryan moved up one notch on the career touchdown reception chart. With 14 now, Bryan is tied with Naz Worthen and Haywood Jeffries for seventh in school history in that category.
Glennon Goes Deep
Mike Glennon delivered two long balls for scores, hitting Tobais Palmer with a 65-yard strike and T.J. Graham with a 63-yard touchdown. Glennon's 65-yard toss marked the longest of his career, as well as Palmer's first score and longest career reception. The 63-yard haul is also Graham's personal best
Pick Streak Continues
Brandan Bishop's interception in the fourth quarter marks the third-straight game that State defenders have picked off a pass dating back to last year's win over West Virginia in the Champs Sports Bowl. Bishop is the fourth member of the defense to intercept a pass this season.
