Wolfpack Leads For Crump

NC State continues to lead the way for Lexington (NC) linebacker Quandarius Crump. Pack Pride has the latest on his recruitment.

In early August, Lexington linebacker Quandarius Crump showed up on the NC State recruiting radar for the first time. Pack Pride checked in on him recently to get an update on how his senior season is progressing.

The 6-3, 210-pound linebacker is one of the top sleeper prospects from North Carolina and it's clear that, in spite of the rankings dished out by recruiting services, the Pack's coaches like what they've found in Crump.

Crump and his Lexington teammates are 2-3 on the season. He's been playing well individually with an eye-popping nine touchdowns through those five games.

He plays running back, wide receiver and linebacker for Lexington, but has been recruited exclusively as a linebacker by the colleges he's been hearing from.

"I've got offers from East Carolina and NC State (verbal)," Crump said. "I really don't know about ECU yet, but I'm high on NC State right now. They're my favorite."

NC State started recruiting Crump during his junior season and they've made it known that he's a priority since then. While the Pack leads, Crump said he wants to wait until after his senior season before he makes a decision.

"I've only talked to State about twice," he continued. "Me and Coach Mike Reed have a pretty good relationship.

"I like them because they offered me first and then I also like how they treat their players and how the school looks. I've been up there twice. I was there for the spring game and I had a real good time."

One of the reasons Crump wants to take his time is he believes he could still pick up offers from other schools. That doesn't mean he's unhappy with his current options, he was quick to point out. He just wants to have all the information he can get before he makes such an important decision that will shape his future.
