"We're clicking right now," said Summers. "We're 5-0 so far and playing well. We go out there every night and don't think we can lose. Our confidence is real high right now."
Summers, who committed to NC State in the spring after considering offers from programs such as North Carolina, Clemson, and East Carolina among others, lines up at quarterback for the Pirates. At 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, he is a dynamic athlete capable of hurting opposing defenses with his arm and legs.
What position does he believe he will play at NC State?
"I think I'm going in as a QB," said Summers. "I know they want a quarterback that can come in and scramble around... make some plays. I can play other positions too, but as of now I think I'll be going in as a quarterback."
He was in Raleigh for an unofficial visit recently and left impressed with the experience.
"The last time I was at State was when they played South Alabama," he said. "I liked it up there, I loved it actually. The thing that I liked the most was the atmosphere.
"The fans stood out... they really worked hard at staying in the game, and you can tell they support the team."
There had been some talk recently that Summers was listening to other schools. However, he maintains that he is 100% committed to NC State.
"Well, there are some [schools] still trying to recruit me, but I'm committed," he said. "I know some want me to take a visit, but I probably won't visit them. I'm set on State.
"That is where I want to go. I've always said I like the school and the atmosphere. I can go in there and be very successful."
