TOC: Grant's in No Rush

During the Saturday morning matchup between the New York Ravens and Lynchburg (VA) Hoops, StateFans was able to catch up with St. Raymond's High Basketball coach Oliver Antigua for an update on Wolfpack target Gavin Grant.

"Gavin's looking at a lot of schools right now," Antigua told us. "Obviously, he likes N.C. State a lot, and he's also looking at UCLA, but as far as a list we probably won't start making one until the end of the summer."

Antigua, who handles the recruitments of his players, says that the multi-dimensional Grant compares favorably to former St. Raymond's star, Julius Hodge.

"Yea, he's a lot like Julius. I like to call him a ‘more athletic Julius' because of the style of game he has. He's very versatile, defends, rebounds, and does pretty much everything. He's a lot like Julius in that way. I would say that he's more of a true small forward though because I see Julius as a guard."

Antigua admits that Grant's definitely high on the Wolfpack.

"He likes N.C. State a lot. The coaches at N.C. State are good and Julius is doing well here. Gavin's going to take a look around the State campus before he leaves the tournament."

Don't expect an early decision from Grant, and he will definitely be taking all five official visits this fall.
