RALEIGH, N.C. -- Tom O'Brien spoke with the media following the Pack's 13-0 win over the Tar Heels.

"I'd certainly like to commend this football team and the coaching staff. If you look at the effort by the defense, it was tremendous today."

"We did enough offensively to win this type of a football game."

"I'm really happy for the kids and I'm really happy for this staff."

"As I told them, I remember my first year here we beat Carolina and they thought the season was over. We've still got a lot to play for."

"We've got to be able to put these things behind us... and get on and get ready to go play Boston College."

"I think you have to give our punter a lot of credit."

"When you play, it's not offense against defense."

"Punting, that's part of the competition that you have to do, and I think he did a great job of it today."

"We're still missing some parts to the D. This was the ninth different defense we started in nine games, but the new guy was Dwayne Maddox who started some before and he has some experience."

"It's really helped that we've got some bodies up front. Those two freshmen on the second line, Teal and McGill, after Kuhn and Sweezy, the drop-off isn't so great when we try to get a rotation of things in there. It helps that we're getting some of those guys back, but we're not near..."

"I'm already worried about Boston College, that's just the way I am."

"I never play this for anything for me. I never have. I'm the last guy in this organization."

"My job is to make sure that I do everything I can to help them get ready to play a football game. With that being said, I'm certainly going to enjoy this one tonight. I promise you that."

"We played well against their run and we were able to get a lot of pressure on their quarterback. We probably got more hits on the quarterback today than we did all year."

"I think that was the key. We were able to get more pressure on the quarterback."

"I don't know if we've been dominant. Three of the previous four games went down to the last play of the game."

"He's been the backup for all three guys. He's the No. 1 guy that goes into all those positions... it's always valuable to have a senior that knows the defense."

"When we were backed up, we got the ball out to the 50-yard line."

"We finally got a tip. I think Cato-Bishop ended up catching the ball and that was a big turnover. I think the game, for all intent and purposes, was over at that point."

"When the ball is kicked off, it's us against them."

"We had to run the football to be successful. I think it helps our quarterback out a lot when we're able to run the football."

"I think our backs ran hard."

"It's just a great win for us."

"When the ball is in the air, David [Amerson] has a great knack for going and finding it."

"I don't take those things personally. I was standing up for our school. It had nothing to do with me. It had to do with the institution."
