Locker Room Report: Mark Gottfried

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Mark Gottfried met with the media following tonight's exhibition game.

"It was a good game for us as far as an exhibition game especially in the first half. They caused some problems – our defensive containment, just containing the ball, wasn't nearly as good in the first half. We adjusted in the second half."

"We were very unselfish, moved the ball well and executing some things offensively. Got the ball out on the break and had some success there – overall it was a good night for us."

"We are not going to shoot it quick every time but we are trying to push it and create some opportunities. So you are going to have some [bad shots] every now and then. You don't want to pull back the string so tight – we are still learning. Our team is learning when to push the break and when to pull it out."

"Rebounding was an issue but I think what was leading to the rebounding more importantly was we weren't moving our feet as well as I'd like and we were allowing too much penetration. That just breaks everything down."

"The second half we were much better at containing the ball and that kind of cleaned everything up from there."

"[CJ Williams] was itching to play – he missed four of five days. The doctors cleared him to play, I was nervous about him and didn't want him to play for awhile. But the doctor said he could and he felt good with it. He's done a nice job there – I thought he played well tonight."

"We still have to get better at what we are doing but as far as just coming and competing hard I think they've done a pretty nice job. That's something we have to maintain throughout the whole year."
