Locker Room Report: Mark Gottfried

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Mark Gottfried met with the media following tonight's win over Morehead State.

"We always appreciate winning, but what I liked tonight is the way we shared the ball. We had 33 baskets with 26 assists, so our guys shared the ball and moved it. Rarely we took a poor shot or made a bad decision, but I thought we handled their pressure well."

"It's a strong characteristic of this team, sharing the ball and sharing the credit. The guys willingly pass it, and I think Lorenzo, two games in a row now, has been able to beat pressure and make good decisions."

"I think Deshawn's doing a nice job. He's really good in the mid-range area, he's rebounding the ball very well. He's had moments in practice, but he hadn't really emerged yet. But, he's had the opportunity to play more and he's done a great job taking advantage of that."

"I still think we're a long way away. I don't want to knock Morehead or Asheville, but our competition it going to get much greater. We're a lot bigger than the teams we've played so far, but I like that we're playing the game the right way."

"No, I have no idea. I hope it's not that long, I don't think it will be but again, I'm not the one that decides that. Our folks are working closely with the NCAA, it's not uncommon for an international player [Thomas de Thaey] to face something where something comes up or their unsure. What our position needs to be more than anything is just cautious. We want to do the right thing. Hopefully that will be resolved quickly."
