Class of 2004: Charlie Jones

South Dade Running Back Charlie Jones has plenty of options following the evaluation month of May. <p> How do the Wolfpack fit into his plans?

Homestead (FL) South Dade Running Back Charlie Jones is one of the nation's premier high school talents.  He exploded on the scene at the NIKE Camp held on the University of Miami campus.

"I did pretty good," Charlie told us.  "I was one of the top backs in the camp.  Recruiting really picked up after that camp."

With an impressive camp under his belt, his college list has expanded in the past month and during the evaluation period, which was a crazy time at South Dade.

"The evaluation month went pretty good.  Our athletic director was getting mad at me because all those schools were coming by and taking me out of class.  It was pretty crazy.

Right now I'm looking at Miami, Florida, Florida State, NC State, Duke, Boston College, Northwestern, Iowa State, Tennessee, Pitt, Iowa, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Nebraska, Georgia, Michigan.  All of those schools have my attention and I'm wide open."

"I have offers from Ohio State, Iowa State, Pitt, Tennesseee, Duke, Boston College, NC State, Northwestern, Kansas, and the Florida schools have given me verbal offers.  They've told me if I want to commit they will take it and then send me an offer."

Jones had a terrific junior season when he rushed for 1570 yards and 19 touchdowns.  This summer he will be camping at the University of Miami.

With so many schools showing interest and presenting offers, don't look for Charlie to decide anytime soon.

"I'm going to announce later on towards signing day.  I'll make a decision after all my visits."

As for his interest in N.C. State, it's mild at the moment, but he has a familiar face in his ear at all times.

"I'm just now gathering information on N.C. State, but Marcus Hudson went to my high school.  He and his dad have been talking to me about going there.  I met Coach Holiday and Coach Amato this month and they were cool."
