Jason Moon continues to play exceptional rounds in the links, carding rounds of 72 and then 73 at Karsten Creek in Stillwater, Okla., site of the 2003 NCAA Championship. Moon is in third place, two weeks after leading the first two rounds of the NCAA Central regional. He is playing in his third NCAA Championship in a row, and the senior from Australia has led NC State to a tie for 13th after two rounds. The Wolfpack is tied with ACC foes UNC and Ga Tech, and trails only Wake Forest (6th) and Clemson (3rd) among ACC teams. Duke is tied for 23rd. The third round tees off tomorrow at 7am CT.
Fernando Mechereffe fired an 80, Sutton Barbrey chipped in an 81, and Justin Walters shot an 83 as no team was below par, or even close. The leader, UCLA is at +23, while the Wolfpack holds strong at +40. Stephen Lewton was the fifth golfer for NC State during round two, as he shot an 87.
The third round begins Thursday, while the final round commences on Friday.
