Deep Run (NC) South Lenoir DT K'Hadree Hooker may not have put up huge numbers in the stat column during Saturday's Shrine Bowl but his presence was definitely felt nonetheless.

Hooker occupied the interior of the South Carolina offensive line which allowed the Tar Heels to effectively shut down the run and stay in the face of the Sandlapper quarterbacks all day.

Pack Pride talked with Hooker after the game and he talked about performance down in Spartanburg.

Although you didn't have the big stats, you were active and allowed a lot of other guys to make plays. How did it feel out there today?

Yeah, it felt good to get the win. It's not about individuals. As long as we got the win I felt happy so it was good.

How important was it to the team to get this win for North Carolina?

It was important to win this game. You know, they won last year so the coaches told us we could win this game, just put our backs against the wall and play hard and get the W.

How was the overall experience with your teammates during the week?

When we first got down here, everyone was just trying to get used to each other. Then, like after the first night and on the second day we were all like we had been together for the whole year. We just had that chemistry and everybody liked each other and we just wanted to win this game.

How much time did you have to spend with your future teammates at NC State?

We all hung together all throughout the week. Then we had to take care of business and try to recruit some of the guys we think we've got a good shot with.

Who were you working on this week for State?

My main target was Bryce Kennedy. Me and Todd (Gurley) roomed together so I kind of let M.J. (Salahuddin) and James (Summers) take that one over so I feel like everything's up for grabs and we can get Bryce Kennedy. And Todd, we could close the class out with a bang.

What's your plan now that football is over and what will you be doing to get ready for the move to college?

I'm going to start the second phase of my off season workout. We've got track coming up. I'm just going to be working hard in the off season to come in and hopefully contribute to the team.
