1. North Carolina State The Pack is the only team with a 3,000 yard passer (Philip Rivers), 1,000 rusher (T.A. McClendon) and 1,000 yard receiver (Jerricho Cotchery) all returning. Also, the schedule is a friend: ACC heavies Clemson, Virginia and Maryland all come to Raleigh and the Pack has a bye the week before FSU while the ‘Noles will be playing at Clemson. Three starters need to be replaced on the offensive line and the heart of the D (Terrence Holt and Dantonio Burnette) is gone, but NC State is bringing in freshman talent that can make the kind of immediate impact that Rivers made in 2000 and McClendon made last year. 6-7 260-pound DE Mario Williams might be All-ACC . . . this season.
