Raleigh, N.C.-Joey Devine and Michael Rogers, two of the main reasons NC State owns a 45-16 record heading into this weekend's NCAA Super Regional against Miami, have been named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Baseball Team. Devine, a rookie from Junction City, Kansas, led the ACC in saves during the regular season (13), while Rogers owns a 12-3 record and a 2.64 ERA in a starting role for the Wolfpack.
Devine has been particularly overpowering in the postseason, allowing no runs on six hits in 8-1/3 innings of work. He has walked one and struck out 11. In four postseason games, the Pack closer has faced 35 batters and only nine of them have managed to hit the ball out of the infield.
Rogers, who will be the game one starter against Miami on Saturday afternoon, picked up his 12th win last Friday night in NC State's first NCAA game against Le Moyne. In pitching eight innings, the righthander allowed no earned runs on just three base hits. He walked one and struck out seven.
