Recruiting Scene: Although NC State showed early interest in Davis, they didn't offer initially mainly because they didn't have an opening at linebacker. Davis did land a scholarship from Minnesota and pledged to the Gophers during the summer of 2010.

Davis appeared set for Minnesota until Wolfpack linebacker Terrell Manning decided to turn pro after State's bowl victory over Louisville. With a position open, the Pack made a run at Davis and offered him about 10 days before signing day. After mulling the offer for a couple of days, Davis switched his commitment to NC State.

Why NC State?: "It's nothing against Minnesota or their coaches but I want to be close to my family and that is right here in Raleigh at NC State. I've told the coaches at both schools my final decision and I'm excited about it."

Picked NC State Over: Davis also boasted offers from Ball State, Western Michigan and Minnesota.

Scouting Report: "He can do it all. He can jump into coverage and he's excellent in run support.

"On the next level, people have talked about him playing the SAM linebacker. He has the wheels to do it. He has the smarts to do it." – Broughton Head Coach Chris Martin
