Gottfried: "They Are Very Talented"

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Mark Gottfried met with the media to discuss the upcoming game against North Carolina.

"I think our players felt bad about how they played against Florida State."

"I think our guys will be excited with a lot of energy on Tuesday night."

"Our players, in my opinion, are always fairly demanding. We are now late into February and there is a fine line between me putting them on the end line and punishing guys, creating that kind of environment, and balancing that with understanding that once you get to February... you are who you are."

"My mindset is on teaching and getting our team prepared for North Carolina instead of dwelling on the Florida State game."

"We have to be more creative and better and smarter offensively when we have the ball around the basket."

"We do have to make the adjustments to where we can still score around the basket instead of getting our shots blocked every now and then."

"[Richard Howell is] trying with his lack of size to create space where he can get the ball up to the rim."

"We can become a better zone team. In the games we've won in the league our man-to-man defense has really helped us, but we've got to be good at both."

"I think maybe I've played [Scott Wood] too many minutes, but I don't think it's that much I think my observation is 38-39 minutes is probably too many."

"Sunday I put the balls up. We locked them up. I told them no one can get the balls out on Sunday."

"You've got to find a way to keep them off the backboard. Sometimes their best offense is a missed shot. They are very talented."

"We did some things well. We just didn't maintain many things."

"There will be times where I think [Brown] could look to penetrate, but our team isn't made up where we can spread the floor and take turns beating guys off the dribble."

"We have to be good at doing what we do and executing what we run."

"[A Win would] be huge. I'm not sure you can define how big it would be with where their program is, where ours is, and where we are hoping to go one day."

"At the end of the day, it is such a great privilege to be a part of this league."

"We may wear [the black uniforms] again, we'll see."

"They can sit wherever they want in my opinion."

"I appreciate our former players having that level of passion. I really do... they were being passionate fans. I think Debbie is handling that with the league office."
