Garcia is a member of the Class of 2005 and a shooting guard. He plays his high school ball in Lynchburg, Va., at Holy Cross Regional. He put up huge scoring numbers this past season and he'll try and play with the Belgian National team later in the summer.
Next week, Garcia will attend the NBA Players Association Camp. This past week, he tuned himself up at North Carolina State's inaugural individual camp. On Wednesday, Garcia looked pretty comfortable in Raleigh. He threw down a monster jam one minute and battled hard in the one-on-one competition.
The Wolfpack is one of the schools on his list. He's been to Raleigh before for a game this year and speaks highly of the Pack.
NC State isn't the only ACC school he's being recruited by. Florida State is hot on his trail. He'll be at FSU's camp later this month and head coach Leonard Hamilton has already made an impression on him by offering a scholarship.
Across the country, UCLA has heard about and has shown interest already. In his own backyard, he's been to Virginia and Richmond will mount a charge as well. North Carolina's staff has been in contact and said they would evaluate him further.
Garcia's a competitor and he's eager to learn. They'll be plenty of guys on the AAU circuit this summer, but few will enjoy the experience the way Garcia will. And he's ready for the competition.
