Mitch Accumulating Offers

Raleigh (NC) Wakefield quarterbakc Connor Mitch is one of the area's top prospects and has been steadily adding offers. He is a major target for NC State and talks about his recent unofficial visit to Raleigh.

Connor Mitch has been around NC State plenty of times so it's not as though anything groundbreaking happens when he returns to Raleigh.

The Wakefield quarterback already has an offer from the Pack. He knows the coaches would love for him to jump on that offer and he's heard the case that they've made for fitting him into their offensive system.

Thus, his most recent trip to NC State was a low-key visit for the Pack's basketball game against rival North Carolina. The interesting storyline there? Both the Pack and the Heels are making Mitch a high priority, and since his stock has skyrocketed with interest from plenty of out-of-state schools, Mitch has continued to maintain a high level of interest in both in-state programs.

This isn't necessarily shaping up to be a head to head battle between NC State and North Carolina, but Mitch was in the middle of that rivalry earlier this week.

"It was a really short trip," Mitch recalled when Pack Pride caught up with him on Wednesday. "I just grabbed some pizza and went to the basketball game. I was with Coach Petercuskie and he was the coach that had offered me."

Did Mitch find himself cheering for the red and white or the light blue?

"No," he laughed. "It's kind of hard to decide with all the schools. My sister went to Duke so I like them too."

He did note that he's not looking at the Blue Devils, but he definitely seems interested in the other two in-state schools.

"I've been up to NC State quite a bit," Mitch continued. "I went to their junior day earlier, I saw a football game during the season and I was there the other night for the (basketball) game.

"Looking back, the junior day was good. I sat down and talked with them about what's going on and we got to know each other a little better."

It looks as though the Pack and Heels will be running different offenses with Larry Fedora bringing a high-paced spread offense to Chapel Hill. Mitch continues to say he could thrive in either system.

"I don't really care which one I play in. I could be comfortable in both of them. UNC is more like the one we run in high school," he said.

Mitch added that he plans on visiting LSU on March 10 and South Carolina on March 31. He currently holds offers from Tennessee, Rutgers, UNC, South Florida, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and East Carolina in addition to NC State.
