Video: Pack Talks NCAA Bid

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Mark Gottfried, Debbie Yow, C.J. Williams, and Scott Wood discussed NC State's NCAA bid with the media last night at the State Club. Here are video interviews with them from the media gathering.

"Watching the show, it was a long show.. the last team on the board, it was intense."

"I'm very, very proud of our guys. I think they have accomplished so much this year, and they earned their way in."

"I felt good, but I guess when you are watching the show and you see teams like Iona maybe getting in, South Florida, you start saying to yourself Wow."

"You get down to one last spot, and it's got to be us. The room erupted."

"I'm an optimist, I always think anything is possible."

"I felt there was some potential with this group, we just had to put it together."

"Our strength of schedule became something that helped us. When I took this job and wanted to make our schedule harder, Debbie Yow was very supportive. We had to buy out of some contracts... we had to spend some money. So that shows what kind of a commitment we got from Debbie Yow."

"I really believe at the first of February we started to play really well."

"We got through that and we kept getting better. I think we are playing really well right now. I think our guys have a lot of confidence right now."

"We're as confident as you can be. We're disappointed we didn't beat North Carolina, we had a chance to, but with the way we are playing right now our guys know that they can play with anybody in the country."

"I know Steve Fisher really well and he's done an unbelievable job at San Diego State... they are really, really good. They are athletic."

"We've got to make sure our team stays fresh."

"It was torture. It's as gut-wrenching as anything I've been through."

"I was happy to see our players respond the way they did."

"The kids that we are recruiting need to understand that we want to be a national player, but you've got to play in the tournament to say that. Now that we are involved in it, it gives everything we are doing credibility."

"I haven't thought about that for one second. I really haven't. I'm sure in the next few weeks we'll look at all that, but truthfully that hasn't been a part of my thinking at all."

"I was very nervous. I knew our RPI and Strength of Schedule was higher than Virginia's, and when I saw them on the board I had hope, but we got down to the last slot."

"I never moved for about 15 minutes, I was just exhausted. I watched them. It was pretty special. I don't think I'll ever forget this one."

"I've never one that close. It's either been the team was in or we pretty much knew they were out. This was different."

"I don't think anyone, including myself, expected us to be in the NCAA Tournament in year one of coach Gottfried's tenure here so this is special for that reason alone."

"It was intense. Everybody was sitting there like could this be us."

"Fortunately we were lucky enough to be the last pick in there."

"I got real nervous because I knew when Joe Lunardi put out his bracket they were four out."

"We always knew we had the talent. We just had to put a 40-minute game together."

"We're playing our best basketball right now and that's all we can ask for."

"San Diego State is a great team and we have to prepare for them."

"You definitely think you're running out of chances, but this year I felt like we had the team, the discipline, and the basketball talent to make it."

"I kept seeing teams we had beat earlier in the year."

"The drama of it, right now it feels better than when it was going on."

"This was our ultimate goal."
