Gottfried: "They Will Be Anxious"

COLUMBUS, OH -- NC State head coach Mark Gottfried met with the media today to discuss San Diego State.

"Our guys, it's their first time, but they will settle down in the game. They will be anxious, but ready to go."

"I've always had a great relationship with Steve [Fisher]. When I was at UCLA we played the Fab Five in Tuscon in the NCAA Tournament, and I've obviously recruited against those guys when he was at Michigan."

"Good friend, great coach, all of those things. Obviously there is a lot of respect there."

"Obviously we were playing some good teams. The hardest part was the day after the Duke game. We let a big lead get a way and it was a game I think our players felt they should have won clearly. We didn't."

"That next day was tough and it really carried over into the next game, Florida State. We were not good that day."

"We've played good teams from day one and played everybody great. Our first game against Carolina, they beat us pretty good, outside of that we've been in a position to win just about every game all year."

"At this point in the year it is hard to change who you are. They are really good with Franklin at the four, but also really good when they move him to the three."

"What I like about their team is even when they have been down in games they have a tremendous will to come back."

"I've got a lot of respect for the team we're playing."

"I don't know if there was a turning point... there's a lot of different ways teams end up in the tournament."

"I've always thought this team had a chance. We just have got to keep slugging, keep swinging, and maybe at the end we'll get there."
