Pack in Top Two for Starnes

NC State is strong early for Norwood (NC) South Stanly linebacker Jordan Starnes.

Jordan Starnes has offers from two ACC schools and he's expecting at least a couple more before too long.

The Norwood (NC) South Stanly linebacker spoke with Pack Pride over the weekend and he gave the latest on where his recruiting stands.

"I think my two favorites would be Georgia Tech and NC State," Starnes said. "The only problem with NC State is they haven't offered."

Georgia Tech and North Carolina have offered the 6-3, 225-pound linebacker and Starnes said he believes the Pack will offer him soon.

"It's kind of funny," he said with a laugh. "I actually grew up more of a (North) Carolina guy than an NC State guy. The only time I've talked to Coach Duggan was the one day he came down by the school. I've tried calling and I just haven't been able to get in touch with them much. I know they can't call me back but I've tried calling multiple times.

"I've just talked to NC State and Georgia Tech a lot more so I'm more comfortable with them and have a better relationship with them."

Starnes attended the NC State-North Carolina basketball game in Raleigh a while back and before that he attended one of the Pack's football practices right before their bowl game.

"I've talked to Coach Bridge a lot," he added. "I call him about every week or every other week. When I went down there to talk to Coach O'Brien he told me they were just finishing up their 2012 class and once they finished up with that they would begin to start watching film on 2013. I think they'll end up offering but we'll see."

Starnes added that he doesn't plan on making a commitment to a school in the immediate future, so NC State has some time if they plan to offer. However, he doesn't want to wait until too late in the process.
