"I just committed to NC State," said Blankenship. "There were a lot of schools looking at me, but I've been to NC State a few times now and every time I felt like it was home.
"I was up for their spring game and have never seen anything like it. They had so many fans and I just got a great feeling from it. There was a great vibe, a lot of energy. I feel like I can be a great addition to NC State."
Blankenship is a 6-3, 300-pound do-it-all offensive lineman who claims a 40-yard personal best of 4.91 seconds, a bench max of 390 pounds and a squat max of 565. He has played center, guard, and tackle for Davie County, and the Wolfpack coaching staff liked his versatility.
"The coaches haven't specified yet where I will play," said Blankenship. "But, I think it will be either guard or center... in the interior."
Blankenship is NC State's first commitment in the 2013 recruiting class. He was in Raleigh this weekend for the Wolfpack's spring game, and picked his offer on Monday.
"I don't know what to say... it's an honor to be the first commitment," he said. "It's great that they trust my abilities enough to offer me a scholarship right now. I'm happy to be a part of the Wolfpack."
It was the first offer for Blankenship, who was also being recruited by Duke and West Virginia among others.
Pack Pride will have more on his decision in the near future so stay tuned!
