Hunte Makes the Call

NC State's coaches are on the road recruiting right now and it has led to some positive momentum that continues to build as the Wolfpack has landed a verbal commitment from Miami (FL) Central cornerback Da'Wan Hunte.

"I verbally committed to North Carolina State," said Hunte. "I actually committed to them Monday after my practice, but didn't talk with coach O'Brien until last night.

"Coach O'Brien is a great guy. We talked about me taking my visit up there in the fall and keeping my grades up in school. I like a lot of things about them... I can't wait to get up there for a visit."

A 5-foot-10, 175-pound defensive back, Hunte also held offers from Boston College and South Florida. As a junior he totaled over 60 tackles with two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

"I'm a physical player," said Hunte. "That's what coach Archer said he liked about me. They've been on me since February and they came down and watched my film. Once I got the offer I knew I was going to be serious about them and I started to check them out even more.

"I think it's a good fit. The coaches said I'm a physical football player that is a great tackler for a corner so I fit their scheme well."

Hunte is being recruited by Wolfpack defensive coordinator Mike Archer.

"Coach Archer is a very nice guy, and I like the relationship we've been building," he said. "He has a history with players going to the NFL, and I like what I've been hearing from him. Like I said, we're building our relationship."

Hunte is NC State's fourth commitment in the 2013 recruiting class. Pack Pride will have more on his decision in the near future so stay tuned!
