Burton Commits to the Pack

NC State has landed a commitment from Danville (VA) George Washington TE Chris Burton.

Tight end has clearly been a focus for the NC State coaching staff this spring and they went a long way towards addressing that need after landing a commitment from Danville (VA) George Washington standout Chris Burton on Monday.

Burton attended NC State's junior day back in January and was on hand for the spring game. Those two visits and his relationship with defensive line coach Keith Willis were huge factors in the rising senior's decision to commit to the Wolfpack. Pack Pride caught up with Burton on his decision.

"Yes sir, I committed to NC State," he said. "I had made me a top five and I was actually just thinking a whole lot about it. When it came down to it, NC State just seemed like the best fit for me and my family."

Burton had narrowed his top five to NC State, South Carolina, East Carolina, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. He held offers from Texas Tech, ECU, Wake Forest, Temple, Vanderbilt and Old Dominion.

As a junior, Burton had 14 catches for 315 yards and two touchdowns. Earlier this year he was selected as the tight end MVP for his performance at he NUC Combine Five-Star Showcase in New Jersey. He is a two time all-district selection and helped lead George Washington to the third round of the playoffs in 2011.

Pack Pride will have much more on NC State's latest commitment so stay tuned!
