VIDEO: Avent's Team Is Ready

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Elliot Avent said the team is playing their best baseball of the season right now.

"We haven't practiced, they needed some time off."

"The feeling is great. Everything that might be a problem is a problem you want."

"Coach Gottfried is in there talking to the team."

"I'm sure it's going to be good though. He's motivating, I'll tell you that. He inspires, that's what he does. I left him in there and I'll hear later. I feel pretty good about it."

"It's a distraction. Ryan Mathews, I felt bad for him, he got called in the eighth round, will you sign... of course he'll sign, he's a senior... he gets called in the eighth round and now it's the 25th round. That's frustrating."

"It's a distraction... do you dream always about the day? Absolutely."

"Tom Holliday and I haven't talked yet... we talked briefly at a meeting this morning... obviously Rodon is going to go in one of the first two games. He's always gone Saturday all year except for a couple of weekends. He'll go Saturday or Sunday, but right now we don't have an answer."

"He's always done things the right way."

"We're going to have to play awfully well... we've been consistent all year and consistency is so hard to sustain for a long time."

"You always want to play your best baseball at the end of the season."

"I heard he was National Freshman of the Year and Trea Turner freshman all-american."

"Tarran has been one of our best players all year. He's dangerous."

"That was an absolute bomb. He knew it when he hit it."

"We lost arguably our best player of the year the first game of the season, Brett Williams, to an ACL. I'd love for him to be down there."

"You get consistent by doing what you're supposed to do."

"I think this time of the year there are so many good teams are out there."

"Something is going to happen and only so many can go."

"I know the support we have. Whether they are in Gainesville or Raleigh or somewhere in North Carolina, the support of this team has been felt."
