The NC State football camp kicks off today with the first of four, one day sessions. Camp has proven to be a critical evaluation tool for the Wolfpack coaching staff, especially with quarterbacks. Pack Pride breaks down several of the signal callers that the Pack staff will be watching closely over the coming days.
B.J. Beecher...6-6, 180 pounds...Concord (NC) High School
Notes...Beecher completed 190 of 340 passes for 2,936 yards and 33 touchdowns as a junior en route to all-region honors. He is receiving interest from NC State, Duke, Auburn and Alabama. His brother Tommy played at South Carolina. He was compared to Mike Glennon by ESPN's Tom Luginbill.
Jordan Brown...6-2, 165 pounds...Seneca Valley High School, Harmony (PA)
Notes...threw for 2,200 yards and 17 touchdowns with a 63% completion rate. Brown added 585 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Has been named all-region, all-conference and is on the watch list for the Big 33 all-star game. Brown has received interest from NC State, Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Duke and Maryland among others.
Jared Carr...6-4, 200 pounds...West Carteret High School
Jonathan Pearce...6-2, 200 pounds...Providence High School, Jacksonville (FL)
Notes...as a junior, Pearce threw for 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns. He added 300 yards and an additional seven touchdowns on the ground. He is receiving interest from NC State, Louisville, Elon, Delaware and Georgia Tech.
Scout evaluation from Madden Academy- "Jonathan throws the football with accuracy. There isn't necessarily anything that is going to WOW you about him, but he is consistent and solid with his mechanics. He sees the field well and made all the right decisions in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11."
Joe Viviano...6-5, 200 pounds...Conestoga High School, Berwyn (PA)
Notes...in 10 games as a junior, Viviano completed 146 of 267 passes for 2,065 yards and 18 touchdowns. His college list is unknown at the current time. He has visited NC State previously. Viviano has a big frame and shows good touch on film. He should be one to watch.
Boeing Brown...6-3, 210 pounds...Brookfield (CT) High School
Notes...Brown has been a varsity starter since his sophomore season. In two seasons he has combined to throw for 2850 yards and 30 touchdowns against twelve interceptions. He was named all-conference two years in a row. Brown has not been offered but is receiving interest from NC State, Wisconsin, Maryland, South Carolina, Kentucky, Michigan State and Indiana among others.
