Schaeffer's Offer List Continues to Grow

Deerfield Beach (FL) Quarterback Brent Schaeffer has had an amazing spring, as some of the top schools in the nation have visited him. <P> What schools have officially put scholarship offers on the table?

"[Laughing] All of them," Brent Schaeffer told StateFans. "I think I have probably around 35 offers right now and too many I can name. What the coaches did was they came and saw me work out in May at my High School. Then when they would leave and get back they send me an offer in the mail."

"Auburn, Notre Dame, NC State, Florida, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, North Carolina, and Purdue are some of the schools that have offered me. I'm open right now and I just want to take my visits this fall before making a decision."

Brent, who stands 6-foot-2 190 pounds and has been timed at 4.47 in the 40, was named the #1 Quarterback at the Miami NIKE Camp.

"I showed up late that day because I was taking the ACT so I could be qualified. The coaches stayed just to work out with me and I did real good. They named me the #1 Quarterback at the camp and I think it helped me with the Elite 11 invite."

"At the Elite 11 camp this weekend I learned alot and I think I can make the big Elite 11 camp. I did good there and the counselors said they would stay in touch."

Last year Schaeffer led Deerfield Beach High School to a 9-2 record before falling in the the 3rd round of the playoffs. He was a one-man show, passing for 2,574 yards and 31 touchdowns, and adding 548 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. Could this season be better?

"I think so. I know we'll have a good team and be ready to take on anyone."

Although he's "open," Brent has obvious ties to the Wolfpack program and is definitely interested in them.

"N.C. State is going to be a good team and they pass alot. Also, I know Tramain Hall, Sterling Hicks, and Greg Golden. Sterling is actually my cousin so it's cool with him being up there. Tramain used to play here at Deerfield Beach, and I was at St. Thomas Aquinas at the same time as Greg. Both of those guys are good players too."

Schaeffer (who is fully qualified) has seen his stock rise these past couple of months, but a decision will more than likely not come soon.

"I want to decide late so I can visit all these schools, but if I visit a school early and like them, who knows. I just might go ahead and commit."
