Douglas Stands Out at Wolfpack Camp

Ft. Myers (FL) athlete T.J. Douglas performs well and catches the eye of the Wolfpack coaches at camp. Pack Pride has the latest on the rising senior's recruitment.

With Jack Britt's Jalen McDaniel and South Columbus' Pharoah McKever already committed at the wide receiver spot, NC State has taken a huge step towards addressing their wideout needs for the class of 2013.

However, they haven't closed the book on the receiver position and spent quite a bit of time evaluating Ft Myers (FL) standout T.J. Douglas during last weekend's football camp.

Measured at 6-0, 176 pounds by the NC State coaches, Douglas posted a solid 40-yard dash time of 4.63 seconds. During one on ones he was clearly the best receiver in attendance. He showed very good body control and ball skills and received quite a bit of attention from the Wolfpack coaches afterwards.

So how did Douglas feel about his performance?

"I felt like I did alright," he said. "I had a chance to go out there and showcase my abilities. I tried to go out and do my best. The State coaches talked to me afterwards. I talked to coach Bridge for a little bit. He's the one recruiting me."

Lining up at quarterback for Ft Myers, Douglas threw for better than 1,200 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2012 while adding an additional 650 yards and five scores on the ground.

That's helped lead to several spring time offers.

"Duke is my latest offer but I've also got Boston College, Purdue and Iowa State," said Douglas.

Along with that quartet of schools, Douglas is also receiving interest from Florida State, Miami, South Florida and Tennessee.

With quite a bit of attention and offers already in his pocket, why the desire to camp at NC State?

"Because I like North Carolina State. I've always been interested. I have family up here. I went on the campus tour and just liked it.

"I loved the facilities. They were real nice. The coaches seemed real nice and I just liked the school in general. Everything just kind of felt like home."

Douglas has already been to camps and Tennessee, UNC and Duke and plans to camp at South Florida and Florida State later this summer.

So when does Douglas hope to get recruiting out of the way?

"I'm probably going to make my decision at the end of the summer. Right now I'd have to say that everyone is pretty equal for me."
