"I committed to coach Mike Reed at NC State [Saturday night]," said Childs. "He was real excited... could barely speak. We talk almost every week and he's been telling me all along how much he likes how I play and I could tell by the tone of his voice that he was happy about it.
"They were the first to offer me and that won me over, but others offered and I had to take a look at them. But, I talked it over with my mom and family and realized that was the best decision for me."
Childs also held offers from Indiana, Central Florida, and FIU when he picked the Wolfpack. At 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, he has the size State looks for in cornerbacks.
"Coach Reed has been telling me a lot about the defense and how I fit," said Childs. "He said they had a corner who was No. 1 in picks and says I could be used in the same way. That's my game.. I go for big hits and picks."
He finished his junior season with over 100 tackles and four interceptions for Osceola High School.
Pack Pride will have more from Childs on his decision in the near future so stay tuned!
