NC State has been on a recruiting roll of late, landing 11 players in the month of June. One benefit for the Wolfpack coaches is that the deluge of early commitments will allow them to focus more of their attention on the class of 2014. One player they've already identified as a top priority is Lexington (SC) White Knoll OL Christian Taylor.
Taylor made an unofficial visit to State back in early June which landed him his first offer. With his Wolfpack offer in tow, Taylor made a return trip to Raleigh to participate in the Pack's camp. The rising junior said he made the trip to get to know the coaches better while working to become a more well-rounded offensive lineman.
"We run a running style offense so I've never learned the kick step and that type stuff," said Taylor. " But really I just came up to State to bond with coach Bridge and interact with some of the other coaches but at the same time, learn how they play their offense and how they run their passing sets.
"State is a great school. I love being around the people here because they seem genuine. They don't seem like they're trying to fool you or anything. I really like that about them."
So where does NC State fall on Taylor's early top five list?
"Right now State is my number one school. I guess I'll go ahead and release this first to you but my top five right now- is temporary, it could change during my junior year. But it's NC State, Tennessee, South Carolina, Ole Miss and Georgia Tech."
Taylor talked further about his plans for the rest of the summer and the schools he hopes to see in the coming weeks.
"I've visited South Carolina and me and coach Elliott had a good time. Then Ole Miss, I'm supposed to visit them on July 14. They like me a lot. Georgia Tech, I've been down there six or seven times. They have nice facilities. Tennessee, I'm trying to make my way down there on July 16 but I plan to get to all of them."
