Jumbo Athlete has Wolfpack in his top 5

"Jumbo Athlete" is a term passed around in the recruiting circles for prospects who can play a variety of positions along the lines and Miami (Fl) Carol City product Akeem Robinson certainly fits the bill.

"Yea, colleges are calling me a Jumbo athlete because they really don't know yet where to put me," Robinson told StateFans. "I'm versatile and can play Tight End, Defensive End, Offensive Tackle, and maybe even Defensive Tackle. So, I think schools like how I can give them different looks."

Robinson attended the Miami NIKE Camp and performed well, measuring out at 6'4 255. He also learned alot.

"It was the first NIKE Camp I've been to and it was a whole new experience. The competition was different and it let me show that I could do some things."

Right now, Akeem's list is looking firm, however he could be adding some schools in the near future.

"I like Miami, Rutgers, Florida the best and then schools like N.C. State and Maryland fall in. Rutgers is my only offer, but I think some others will too. Miami has said they will offer me, so I'm looking out for that one to come in."

Robinson is in no hurry to decide and even though he has a solid top 5, other schools could become major contenders for his services.

"I'm open right now and I don't have a timeframe or anything. I'm just going to continue working out and see who all offers me in the end. I'll definitely be picking my school late."

THE SCOOP ON THIS FLORIDA KID: Emerged at the end of his sophomore season as a player who could turn into quite a football player.
Grew quickly during his junior season, and with his outstanding blocking skills, was suddenly viewed by most schools as an offensive lineman.

EVALUATION: The first thing you notice is his size. As a tight end, he would lean on defensive players and wear them down throughout the course of a game with his ability to use his large frame to his advantage.
This is yet another player you simply cannot judge by watching on film.
As a tight end, he was never asked to get too far up field, but when he was, he had very good hands and did well in matchups. Without the ball, when the tape was rolling and on not on him was the true measure of his talents. He never gives up on his blocks and will stick with his man until the play is over!

THE INSIDE STORY: There is little doubt that Akeem will be an offensive lineman at the next level. He has the frame to go over 300 pounds early in his collegiate career.
