School: Gray's Creek High School
Notes: Hope Mills (NC) Gray's Creek offensive tackle Patrick Roane just needed a couple of days to accept a scholarship offer from NC State.
"I called coach Bridge and told him the news, and he was extremely happy," said Roane. "He was happy that I'm a member of the Wolfpack. Then I spoke with coach O'Brien and he's excited for me to get up there.
"I'm just pumped about the entire situation. NC State had everything I wanted with my major, prestigious football and amazing facilities. Those three things together really helped me come to my decision."
Checking in at 6-foot-6 and 290 pounds, Roane posted a 5.43 in the 40-yard dash at the Wolfpack's camp and was very good in drills. His size is certainly a plus and he has very long arms, which is a trait you look for in a prospect being recruited to play offensive tackle.
"I've been improving," Roane said after the camp. "I feel like I had a good junior year, but you can always get better. For me, I know I need to get stronger."
Roane also held offers from Old Dominion and North Carolina A&T. He is NC State's second offensive line commitment in the 2013 class, joining Mocksville (NC) Davie County center Cole Blankenship.
