Before the summer began if you had asked Shawn Curtis which North Carolina program he was most interested in he probably would have told you the Tar Heels.
Now that has changed. The 6-5, 270-pound offensive tackle from Orlando (FL) Olympia claims offers from all the major programs in the state and earlier this summer he made a trip to North Carolina.
"I went to Duke, North Carolina State, North Carolina and Wake Forest," Curtis recalled. "I did a little camp up at North Carolina and the others were visits."
After visiting each of the schools in the state Curtis knows which one he likes the best.
"I did like North Carolina State a lot. I liked Duke a lot. The other two I still liked but North Carolina State stuck out the most. I just liked the area and the coaching staff real well.
"They showed me all their buildings and took me around the campus. It was the same deal as with the other places but I just really liked it there. Coach [Mike] Reed is my recruiter and I really like him."
Curtis did point out that he doesn't have any overall favorites and that NC State is only his favorite out of the North Carolina schools he has visited. That's still good news for the Wolfpack.
Cincinnati, UConn, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, South Florida and Syracuse are the other schools that have offered Curtis. He will have plenty of opportunities to see more of those schools and compare them with NC State.
"I'm going to Florida State next week for a camp but that's pretty much it for the summer. I'm probably going to take all five of my officials and then decide after that," Curtis said.
NC State offered Curtis during the spring evaluation period. He's the #56 offensive tackle nationally on Scout.com.
