Pack Leads For Jackson-Cartwright

LAS VEGAS – Parker Jackson-Cartwright didn't mince words Thursday at the Las Vegas Classic.

When asked if the 2014 point guard was asked his thoughts of N.C. State, he replied: "at the top."

"I'm considering them really hard, and they want me really bad," Parker Jackson-Cartwright said. "I take that into consideration, and my family really likes them. We'll see how it pans out in the next couple of weeks."

Head coach Mark Gottfried is the main reason N.C. State sits at the top of the list for the Wolfpack.

"It means a lot (that Gottfried is recruiting me)," he said. "Other schools, they kind of throw their assistants at me, and that doesn't really mean much. Coach Gottfried is the one always calling me."

The coaching staff has done a good job of selling the school and the city of Raleigh to the 5-foot-10 guard from Los Angeles.

"Their coaches are so cool. I love the coaches," he said. "I love the coaching style – he let's the point guard go. For me, that means a lot. Not so much so I can do whatever I want to do, but if he gives me the ball, I can do good things for the team."

According to Jackson-Cartwright, Arizona, UCLA, Washington, Georgetown, UNLV and San Diego State are also the schools that have offered that he's considering, and he says he plans on making a decision this summer.

As far as what will make the decision for Jackson-Cartwright: "My family and their insight."

"That's big right there," he said of his process.

"Distance, I don't know if I want to leave or if I want to stay home, I want to go to a big city — I know Raleigh is a great city. Just all of those components — the city, the school, the academics, stuff like that."

Jackson-Cartwright hasn't planned trips to certain schools yet, but one will host him.

"I'm going to Arizona on the 25th of August," he said. "That's the only visit I have set up."
