"I just got NC State," said Copeland. "They offered me this morning. That's really big. It's my third ACC offer right now... I've been working really hard to get it. I know some people that go to State like T.J. Warren who played for Garner Road as well. It's an honor for me, the fact that I'm from Raleigh, to get that offer.
"They told me that if I kept improving it would be coming my way, but I was trying to help out my team as much as I could be playing well."
NC State assistant Rob Moxley is recruiting Copeland for the Wolfpack, who joins Boston College, Virginia, St. Joe's, UNC Charlotte, Winthrop, Western Kentucky, East Carolina, American, Furman, Buffalo, and App. State on his offer list.
Playing in July with Garner Road, Copeland feels he performed at a level on the AAU circuit that could yield even more offers.
"It went well," he said. "We did pretty good as a team in July. I probably played my best in Indiana. I was consistent out there and had a big game of 29 points."
Copeland just finished up his last event and will be returning back to Raleigh today where he plans on talking with his family about the offer from NC State.
"The NC State coaches told me that if I'm read to commit they would love to have me," said Copeland. "They want me to talk with my family about it and everything, but they want me to make a comfortable decision. I haven't really thought about it yet."
The 6-foot-9, 195-pounder spent last season at Raleigh (NC) Ravenscroft but has re-classified and transferred to Charlottesville (VA) The Miller School. He heads up to Charlottesville on August 21st for the start of his junior season.
