RALEIGH, N.C. -- Redshirt freshman safety Tim Buckley has been on campus just a couple of weeks and recently met with the media for the first time to discuss his transfer from Penn State.

Tim Buckley

What was your decision making process when all of that stuff went down at Penn State?
After talking to NC State... just coming back home was a big part for me. When I had the opportunity to come back home, and it's a secondary that I could jump right in there and contribute.

Did you decide staying there wouldn't be in your best interest?
Not necessarily. I wasn't looking to just get out of there. Like I said, after talking to NC State it was time for me to come back home.

What have been your impressions of NC State?
I love the defense. I love the coaching staff. The DBs are great to work with. They are one of the best, most productive secondaries in the country.

Just coming here and learning from them and from coach Reed has been awesome.

Talk about your learning curve.
You're trying not to question yourself on the field and be where you have to be.

I'm learning everyday. I'm learning more everyday and trying not to make the same mistakes everyday.

Is the team starting to get more focused on Tennessee?
We're definitely looking forward to playing Tennessee and opening the season off.

What kind of a statement would it make to beat a SEC opponent in the opener?
It would be a huge statement. It would be awesome to beat a SEC school.

What is the chemistry like on this NC State team?
It's good chemistry. Everyone seems really close.
