Despite his commitment to East Carolina earlier this year, NC State hasn't given up on 4-star LB Devaris Brunson.
The 6-1, 210-pound linebacker from Lake City (SC) camped at State over the summer but an unofficial visit helped propel the Pirates to the lead which ultimately led to a commitment from Brunson.
However, the Pack was able to host Brunson on an unofficial visit of their own a couple of weeks ago and he talked with Pack Pride about how the trip went.
"I enjoyed everything. I went up there and saw a lot," he said. "I enjoyed everything."
The scrimmage wasn't the only part of the trip this time. Brunson was able to sit in on a position meeting with the linebackers, he talked to the coaches and he mingled with a few of the players.
"I got a good feeling around [the coaches]. They know how to treat you," Brunson said.
And the position meeting?
"That went good too. I liked seeing how they break things down and go over certain plays. The position meeting went good."
Perhaps most importantly Brunson felt comfortable around the players, the guys he'll potentially be lining up with in the years to come. But the trip wasn't quite enough to cause him to commit. At least not yet.
Regardless of what Brunson ultimately decides, he wants to make sure he gives ECU and their coaches every opportunity to convince him to stay on board.
"I'll be taking another (visit) to ECU but I don't know when," he said, indicating that he's not sure whether that will be an official or unofficial visit. "I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I'm still committed to ECU but it's between them and NC State."
