NC State hosted four-star forward Dominic Woodson this weekend for an official visit, and according to his AAU coach, Woodson had a great trip.
"I know Dominic had a great time," said Ray Jackson Rising Stars head coach Kevin Robinson, who accompanied Woodson on the visit. "NC State showed him a lot. I know he liked it."
"The academic side was really good. We were able to meet the AD and some of the academic staff. Overall, it was a great visit."
Woodson was also able to watch the Wolfpack work out.
"Well, I think that was helpful for him," said coach Robinson. "Schools can tell you that they need you or you'll have an opportunity to play, but it helps when you get to see that.
"I'm not sure they have a kid in there right now that is built physically like Dominic. The two guys they have starting I think are leaving, and if Dominic does what he needs to do the opportunity would be there to play early. That's what he is looking for, the opportunity to play as a freshman."
It sounds like the highlight of the trip for Woodson could have been spending more time with the players and coaches.
"Well, I love the coaches," said Robinson. "I know they stood out to Dominic too. They have four excellent coaches on the staff, and I think they are going to be really good this year. Coach Gottfried was tough on the players but fair."
While Woodson didn't commit, he is closing in on a decision. According to Robinson, the decision could come in the next few weeks.
"Dominic is supposed to go to Baylor this weekend then Oklahoma on the 27th," said Robinson. "After that I think he's going to sit down with myself and his aunt and get this thing done so he can concentrate on his senior season."
Woodson is rated a four-star recruit and the No. 3 center in his class by Scout.com.
