Canton (OH) McKinley offensive lineman Xzavier McAllister made the long trip to North Carolina a little over a week ago and was able to make the most out of it by attending games at both UNC and NC State.
At 6-5, 330 pounds, McAllsiter has landed early offers from Akron, Pittsburgh, Western Michigan and Kent State. With interest from both the Tar Heels and Wolfpack, the 2014 prospect had a chance to evaluate both programs. Now that he has been to both, what was his impression of each?
"I really didn't get to see too much while I was at UNC," McAllister said after his visit. "I didn't get to talk to the coaches or anything.
"I spent more time at NC State than I did at UNC. I had a really great time there. When I was done there I was more excited than anything. I wasn't even really tired."
McAllister is just a junior at McKinley High School and he's one of the top prospects in his part of the state. He told Pack Pride that he came away impressed with NC State's resilience in fighting back to upset Florida State.
"They just kept fighting and fighting," he said. "That's how they got that big win."
McAllister said the NC State coaches told him they would be making a trip to Ohio this week and they would stop by McKinley to check on things like film and transcripts, as well as to meet with his coaching staff. He still doesn't have an offer but added that a scholarhsip from State is one that he's hoping to add to his list.
