NOTES: Glennon Tosses Five TDs

Mike Glennon played one of the best games of his career in Saturday's 43-35 loss to North Carolina. Here are some final notes from the game.

• QB Mike Glennon threw for a career-best 467 yards, completing 29-of-52 passes. That total is the fourth-highest single game total in State history.

• Glennon also tied his career high with 5 TD passes, a mark that also ties the school record.

• Glennon has now thrown for over 300 yards in back-ot-back games (he had 307 last week at Maryland). Its the first time since Russell Wilson had 5 straight games over 300 yards in 2010 for a Pack QB.

• State's first TD of the day was a 32-yard pass from Glennon to freshman WR Charlie Hegedus. It marked Hegedus' first career TD catch and his longest catch of the season, in fact, Hegedus had just 38 total receiving yards in the first seven games.

• Redshirt senior WR Tobais Palmer also recorded his first TD catch of the season, an 83-yard pass from Glennon in the second quarter. The pass is the 9th longest pass play in State history. Palmer had his first career 100-yard receiving game, finishing with a career-best 119 yards on five catches.

• Redshirt WR Bryan Underwood extended his own school record, with his eighth straight game with a TD catch when he hauled in a 20-yard score in the second quarter. Underwood is the only player in the nation to have a TD catch in every game this season, and is just 1 game shy of the ACC record for consecutive games with a TD catch (Herman Moore, UVA 1990).

• Underwood added a 55-yard TD catch in the third quarter, giving him 10 through the first eight games. He has already caught the fifth-most TD passes in a single single.

• Underwood finished with 6 catches 118 yards and Palmer had 5 catches for 119 yards, they are the first teammates to both finish with over 100 yards receiving in the same game since 2010 against Virginia Tech (Owen Spencer 145, Jarvis Williams 103).

• Redshirt senior C.J. Wilson recorded his fourth career INT in the second quarter. And just like his first three (which all ended up returned for a TD), this Wilson INT also ended in the endzone, as his pick stopped a UNC 1st & goal drive with a touchback.

• Wilson was also involed in UNC's second turnover of the day, as he forced a fumble and then recovered the fumble in the red zone as well.

• UNC took its opening drive 6 plays, 85 yards for an 8-yard TD run. It was the first opponent drive of the season that NC State gave up points on (6 punts, 1 interception).

• After giving up 25 points and 353 yards of total offense (124 rushing, 229 passing) in the first quarter, the Pack defense held the Tar Heels scoreless in the second quarter and just 126 yards (32 rush, 94 pass).

• UNC scored 25 first-quarter points, the most the Pack has given up in the opening quarter since Florida State had 27 in a 48-35 FSU win Nov. 1, 1997. The Pack has also given up 22 points to Tennessee and 23 to Miami in the first quarter this season. UNC scored its 25 point with 1:24 left in the first quarter, but did not score again until a TD with 10:23 left in the fourth quarter.

• UNC's game-winning punt return in the fourth quarter was the first given up by the Pack since 2005.
