Even though Matthew Dayes no longer considers himself a firm commitment to NC State he still plans on giving the Wolfpack another look.
With Tom O'Brien out and his successor announced Dayes knows a lot more about the situation at NC State now than he did when he officially re-opened his recruitment about a week ago.
With the change in leadership, Dayes has decided to explore his options.
"I was a little surprised when it happened. I wasn't expecting it," Dayes said.
"I'm just opening things up and seeing what (other offers) I can get."
Before committing to NC State Dayes had offers from Boston College, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Kentucky and others. He said he probably will not consider Kentucky this time around but would not rule out the others.
He won't rule out NC State either.
"I talked to Coach Archer (on Saturday)," he said.
Archer told Dayes he doesn't know what his fate will be under the new coach but would like to see him stick with his commitment to the Wolfpack regardless.
Cypress Bay is in the semifinals of the state playoffs and Dayes has 200 carries for 1,500 yards on the year.
Dayes said he will wait until after the season is over to make any more moves in his recruitment.
