Badet is a Fit for New Wolfpack Offense

New head coach Dave Doeren has made WR Jeff Badet a priority for the new Wolfpack offense. NC State will receive one of his official visits this month.

Coaching changes have changed the recruiting landscape for Jeff Badet and three schools are left standing.

NC State is one of three schools the three-star wide receiver is considering and the hiring of Dave Doeren has given the Wolfpack a shot. It's the spread offense that Badet likes and he sees a chance to play early in Raleigh.

"As soon as their new coaching staff came in somehow one of them got a hold of my senior film. As soon as the head coach saw it I got on the phone with him and the receivers coach," he said.

"They said with the type of offense they're trying to bring to NC State they need receivers like me. I talk to the receivers coach all the time. He's just saying the offense needs receivers like me and they want to put the ball in my hands."

That's the same basic message Badet has heard from Kentucky, another school with a new coaching staff that plans on running some variation of the spread.

Wake Forest is slightly different but the Deacs are making it clear to the Orlando-area receiver that he can get on the field early.

"I haven't really talked to Wake Forest about their type of offense but the receivers coach said they're going to find a way to put the ball in my hands because I'm a play maker," he said.

The ACC/SEC divide doesn't figure to be a big factor as Badet knows both conferences give him the opportunity to fulfill his dreams.

"To be honest with you you're going to get exposure no matter where you go. I'm just going to visit these schools to see the atmosphere and campus life and whether I can see myself at the school for the next four years. I want to see myself coming in as a true freshman and playing right away."

Nebraska, USF and UCLA (to a lesser extent) had also approached Badet recently but since they have not shown as much interest as the three others he is not considering them.

Badet is scheduled to visit Wake Forest, Kentucky and NC State in consecutive weekends in January beginning on the eleventh.
