Is State Still on Top for Means?

NC State was the team to beat for Richburg (SC) Lewisville safety Malcolm Means so where do they stand after their official visit?

When Pack Pride spoke to Richburg (SC) Lewisville safety Malcolm Means a couple of weeks ago it sounded like NC State was in prime position to potentially land a commitment during his official visit. That didn't happen, at least not yet, so what did Means think about his trip to State?

"I really liked it and I had a great time. I was at the Duke game and it was live. I had a real good time.

"Quinton Payton, the wide receiver was my host. He was just giving me feedback on what the school is like."

As a senior Means rushed for 1,043 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding 28 catches for 580 yards and another seven scores. On defense he tallied 28 tackles, five tackles for loss, four sacks and four interceptions while returning two of those for touchdowns en route to be selected to the 2012 Shrine Bowl.

So where does NC State stand after Means' official visit to Raleigh?

"I had a good meeting with coach Doeren. He just told me that if I came there I'd be a part of something great.

"State's still at the top for me right now. I'll probably make a decision in the next week or so. I was supposed to go to UNC on the 25th but I'm going to make my decision in the next week or two.

At least for the immediate time being, Means says he hasn't come to a decision on his future college just yet.

"I don't know what I'm going to do yet. I'm going to go home and talk to my coach about it."
