After an official visit to NC State this past weekend, Richburg (SC) Lewisville S Malcolm Means only needed a few more days before making the decision to commit to NC State.
"Yes sir, I committed this evening," Means told Pack Pride. "Coach Kitchings, coach Doeren and the defensive coordinator (Dave Huxtable) came by to see me and I let them know. They didn't know I was going to commit so they were really excited and I was excited to be joining the Wolfpack."
So just what was it that sold Means on NC State?
"Coach Doeren, coming in, he has a great philosophy and he wants to win games. That's what I'm all about. I'm just looking forward to going in, working hard and doing what I can to help the team win.
Besides that, the campus is great. I love the campus lifestyle. The weekend I had with them was amazing. I love all my teammates. I'm just excited."
One of the things that stood out to Means was the relationships he was able to forge with the players already at NC State. In the end, that factor made his decision easy.
"All of us, we just clicked. We all can relate. We all like the same things and we all just have the same goals. That was really important to me."
Means added that he has shut recruiting down and does not have an plans to visit any other schools.
As a senior Means rushed for 1,043 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding 28 catches for 580 yards and another seven scores. On defense he tallied 28 tackles, five tackles for loss, four sacks and four interceptions while returning two of those for touchdowns en route to be selected to the 2012 Shrine Bowl.
