"I had a great time at NC State," said Gibbs. "I got to talk a lot of football with [defensive line] coach Nielsen. We talked about how they want a fast, attacking defensive line that plays real aggressive."
Gibbs also had a chance to talk with Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren and tour the facilities.
"I talked with coach Doeren a lot," he said. "He's a great guy. We just talked about the program and about the facilities. They were real nice."
Helping show Gibbs around NC State was Wolfpack defensive end Art Norman. What did he think of Norman?
"Man, he's a cool guy. We hung out and he showed me what it's like at NC State."
Gibbs, who holds offers from NC State, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Indiana, Wisconsin, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, and Northern Illinois among others, committed to Illinois back in the spring, but opened up his recruitment in August. He is still considering the Illini and three other programs.
"It's mainly Illinois, NC State, Pittsburgh, and Michigan State," he said. "I've already been to NC State and Illinois, and I have Pittsburgh this week. That is the only visit I have set up right now."
Gibbs, who checks in at 6-foot-2 and 280 pounds, played defensive end and defensive tackle this season for Cass Tech as he helped lead them to a state title. He is being recruited by all four schools to play defensive tackle.
"Like I said, it doesn't matter to me. I'll play anywhere.
"Right now I'm just looking at recruiting. I have this visit to Pittsburgh and after that I'll see where it is at."
